Don't ever mess with Preity Zinta on streets otherwise you'll end up all black and blue.
In her regular column for BBC Zinta reveals that she has just one point strategy for the "barbarians" on the road - "one tight slap."
"A lot of women in India have a story of eve teasing," she says and adds, "It sounds rather biblical and innocent but 'eve teasing' could range from catcalls to sexual assault of women. If anyone makes me uncomfortable or treats me like a piece of meat, then they get a dose of my theory."
Partly blaming it on the sex explosion in the media she says that there's too much smut on prime time television.
"The videos camera zooms in and out of the girl's anatomy, accompanied by vulgar and crude remix music which single-mindedly murders classic Indian film songs. Even I feel embarrassed to watch some of the television in front of my family," she says.
Deeply concerned about the state of woman in the country she asks, "I wonder why some men behave like barbarians. And why the state is so helpless in protecting the women. Why should women feel unsafe in a country which had an internationally revered woman prime minister?"
Though she feels that the odds are currently stacked against Indian women but there is an eternal optimist in Preity who believes that good will always triumph over evil.
