David Dhawan's film, Hook Ya Crook, starring John Abraham and Genelia D'Souza, has been shelved. It was going
steady, had completed 90% of the film and even had UTV as its producer. The film was done away with, despite the
amount of funds poured in by UTV, because they felt it won't work.
UTV had been depending upon Hook Ya Crook but after watching some portions of the film, they were disappointed
by it. They had creative differences with David Dhawan over it and the film was put aside. It was a major decision on
their part, seeing as Rs. 20 crore had been invested on the film.
There had been rumours about the film being stuck for a while now but they were generally dismissed by those
connected to the project as they cited the unavailability of dates of Indian cricketers.
The climax scene of
the film had a cricket match between Team India and a team of jail inmates, where John Abraham is the skipper of
the prison team.
John is especially disturbed by this decision as his previous film, Aashayein too didn't release. John and David have
both disagreed with this decision and want to make sure the film releases. They are working on the remaining parts
of the film right now.
