Noted film director Kaizad Gustad and his colleague Ashish Udeshi were arrested in Mumbai on Wednesday by Government Railway Police (GRP) in connection with the death of assistant director, Nadia Khan, police said.
Gustad and Udeshi were charged with 'causing death due to negligence' (304-A IPC), and will be produced in a court on Wednesday, police said.
A lady police constable of GRP, who was deputed at Gustad's film shooting site at Mahalaxmi Railway station, is also expected to be arrested under the same charges since she happened to have witnessed the accident in which 27-year-old British national Nadia Khan met a gory death, police added.
"Neither did the LPC raise objection nor did she report it to her seniors when Udeshi lied at Hospital and subsequently to Tardeo police that Nadia had died in a road accident", police added.
"Apart from Gustad and Udeshi, the LPC will also be placed under arrest", Commissioner of police (GRP) Shrikant Sawarkar said.
Nadia Khan, who was assisting Gustad and his team for new film 'Mumbai Central', was shooting at Mahalaxmi railway station on May 25 when she was allegedly knocked down by a suburban train.
Udeshi rushed grievously injured Nadia to nearby Nair Hospital, but she succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital.
At the hospital and the subsequent complaint at Tardeo police station, Udeshi claimed that Nadia was hit by a speeding vehicle when she attempted to cross road at Rakhangi square on E Moses road.
