In the industry where everyone wants to occupy the hot seat and the much coveted sex-kitten tag, Sushmita's voice may feel like a far cry to you. But do listen to it, for it is the voice of sanity; the voice of a girl, who started out as a every other glam doll but earned her due respect on her way to fame.
As an actress, this Bong beauty has come a long way. The regular song and dance routine is off her back now and people have actually started taking her seriously. Mallika, Bipasha, Priyanka, Lara Dutta or Celina, no one gives her sleepless nights any more. And don't even dare to draw any comparisons here.
"I'm no longer a sex symbol. I have evolved as an artiste and moved up in life. Everyone in Bollywood undergoes this change and someone else gladly takes over your mantle. You can't compare me with these newcomers. They have only just entered the film industry and have miles to go before they can catch up with me," she says.
Basking fresh in the glory of 'Main Hoon Na' Sen-sational Sush has grown a whole new perspective about her identity. In her own admission, she has developed an insatiable appetite for success.
"Very few heroines are as ambitious as I am. As an actor it is important to be self-obsessed. And I am. You do not expect a million people to love you on screen if you do not like yourself. And I loved being Sushmita! "
Her latest film to hit the marquee is 'Bewafa', in which Sush is sharing the spotlight with Kareena Kapoor.
Ahem... now you can very well imagine from where all this attitude is coming!
