Garbage strewn on roads, gutters overflowing and lack of dustbins in public places is a common sight. The Ministry for Human Resource Development is taking the steps to rectify this situation. It has decided to start at the school level. And assisting them in this venture is none other than Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan.
The Ghajini star has been appointed as Brand ambassador for the school sanitation programme. Jointly launched by the Ministries of Urban Development and HRD, it will aim towards educating children about the importance of hygiene and sanitation.
The idea is to imbibe a sense of cleanliness in them right from their early learning stage. Aamir presided over the function held in Delhi on 27th April 2010, where the National School Sanitation Initiative was launched.
He was felicitated by the Ministry officials and interacted with the school children that were in attendance.
Aamir will be recording awareness programmes which would be distributed in CD's in schools across the nation. Health and wellness clubs will be set up in schools to make children aware of good health and sanitation practices.
They will also come up with an informative manual to be included in the CBSC curriculum. We gathered from a source that the actor was proud and happy to be associated with this project. Aamir has always done his bit for the society.
He has been involved in social causes like the Narmada Bachao Andolan, the producer-distributors issue and the Atitihi Devo Bhav ads to promote tourism. With him on board, the project promises to be a success!
