The Commissioner, a movie based on Lalit Modi's life, was put aside after the Indian Premier League scandal, but in a
surprise twist, it is now being brought back.
The movie is set to be produced by Percept Ltd. They have expressed interest in the project, even though they were
put off by the controversies surrounding Modi earlier.
The Commissioner will be directed by Shamin Desai, as soon as Lalit Modi agrees to let the film include all that
happened in his life within one month. The screenplay of the film is now being edited by writer Sridhar Raghavan, to
include include recent events.
According to producer Shailendra Singh of Percept, there have been some important changes in the project.
He confirmed that Lalit Modi had given them the nod to include all the new developments in his life and career so
they're going ahead with their plans in full swing.
He believes that Lalit Modi's life was never an ordinary story
but now it has turned even more gripping. He further expresses that Lalit Modi was and still is a man of mission, so his
story certainly has to be told.
If sources are to be believed, Irrfan Khan will be playing Lalit Modi. At present, there is more focus on rewriting the
story and screenplay, than on the casting. Raghavan has earlier worked on Rajkumar Santoshi's Khakee and Prakash
Jha's Apaharan.
