For some artists it's all about the quality of work rather than the quantity. They refuse to do a project if they are not
convinced about the quality of that project. One such artist is the world renowned singer Sukhwinder Singh. The very
talented singer has sung only a selected few songs in the past couple of years.
Though few, most of those songs were chartbusters. He started his career as a Bollywood playback singer with a few
songs that didn't really do well. After a short break he made his come back with all-time hit 'Chaiyya Chaiyya'. After
this he has mostly given only hits.
But then Sukhwinder Singh, who sang the very popular song 'Jai Ho', which won an Academy Award for Best Original
Song and a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media, also made
his debut in Bollywood this year.
He was the lead actor in Jagbir Dahiya's Kuch Kariye along with Shriya, Rufi
Khan and Vikram Kumar. The film was about two young couples coming to Mumbai to realise their dreams. They end
up making a film and in the process they face terrorism.
The film didn't really do well. It didn't work well with either the audiences or with the critics. The film was highly
criticised by almost everyone. Not one department of the movie was spared. But Singh claims that he likes to do a few
projects, but those in which he has conviction, as he apparently had for this film.
As for not taking work in
bulk, he has a simple policy; he does one world tour and then takes a break until he needs to do another one. He
thinks that it is better to live a normal life than a rich and lonely one. We sure agree with that Sukhwinder!
