American critics, however, are all praises for the film and apparently it has opened at the tenth spot just behind How To Train Your Dragon at the ninth position. The film has grossed about $1 million over just three days from 21-23 which is remarkable for an Indian film and has also managed the maximum no. of mainstream reviews.
Despite the mixed reviews, Kites being one of the most awaited films of the year, grossed INR 21 crores on the opening day itself in India, becoming the second biggest opening with 3 Idiots being the first. Kites truly has an international appeal and it's proved it by making it at the fifth position in the U.K.
Kites will also be seen in an international version titled Kites Remix that will run 90 minute long and open worldwide this Friday. This movie is being presented by Hollywood's top director Brett Ratner of X-Men and Rush Hour 3 fame. The movie's lead pair has gained lot of accolades for their chemistry and the audience is already looking forward to see the pair come together again. Rakesh Roshan's Kites certainly seems to be flying high, if not in India, then in international skies.
