MR INDIA: I was out of the country when it released. By the time I got back, Mr India mania had hit everyone. All the kids wanted to be invisible and everything anyone said always ended with "Mogambo khush hua."

If you wanted to insult somebody, you'd call him Fumanchu. We finally had our superhero of sorts and it gave us one the greatest villains ever.

I used to hate the scene where the little girl dies and just before that scene would come, I would leave the room and come back only when it was over.

CHUPKE CHUPKE: I've watched this a countless number of times and even now when it plays on TV, I end up watching it again. And I laugh just as much as I did the first time. I am a huge Hrishikesh Mukherjee fan and this for me was his best film.

Like all his other movies, what was incredible about this film, was its simplicity. There is no big plot and no over-the-top humour but there is not one single moment in the film, when you are not smiling.

ROCKY: As teenagers, my friends and I would watch the training bits of the movies before we hit the gym. Even now, when I hit the gym, I end up listening to the soundtrack, and I feel twice as strong. There is never anything more inspiring than seeing the underdog win.

There has never been a greater story about the underdog than this one. Even now, when I watch any of the parts I find myself wincing when Stallone is getting punched and getting overwhelmed when he is winning.

THE SEVEN SAMURAI: I was introduced to this movie by my cousin and was trans-fixed. I'd never seen anything like it. I watched it immediately the next morning and then everyday for about a week.

Visually, it was just overwhelming. I was so taken by Kikuchiyo, the character played by Toshiro Mifune that I used to walk and talk like him. I had suddenly transformed from a normal Indian kid into a crazy Japanese warrior.

SHOLAY: I remember as children, my cousin and I were obsessed with the dialogues. We used to have a LP of the movie that had the songs, as well as the dialogues.

We used to play it almost everyday and pre-empt the dialogues before they came on. Even today, I remember almost every line, making it extremely annoying for anyone watching it with me. Even after having watched it over 100 times, every character still feels as entertaining.
