Director Sanjay Gupta, who reunited with wife Anu after a bitter break-up, has gifted her a swanky white coloured BMW to mark their first wedding anniversary.

"Sanjay is going all out in his relationship. They have eyes just for each other. For this special occasion, Sanjay wanted something special for his wife and thought of gifting her BMW," a friend said.

Gupta, who has a fondness for fast moving cars, gizmos, gadgets and bikes, confirmed that he bought the car. "Well, Anu is not into things like these.

I am most excited about it because of my love for cars and the fact that I have gifted one of my favourite ones to her. She never asked for it but I wanted to gift her one," said Gupta, who was once married and divorced to his wife before getting remarried again last year.

Their relationship soured after the release of 'Kaante' in 2002. So Sanjay and Anu went their separate ways but Gupta realised his love for his wife and began to woo her all over again.

"I realised she was the one who was my soul mate. She has been a best friend more than just a wife. I had to woo her for two years before she consented for a marriage again last year. Last one year has just gone in a jiffy and I am so much at peace with myself," said Gupta, who recently produced 'Acid factory', 'The Great Indian Butterfly' and 'Pankh'.

Though the anniversary falls tomorrow, Gupta didn't quite make this as a 'surprise event' since it was an 'expensive affair' and had to be planned in advance. However, there is no certainty yet on what would Gupta be receiving from his wife.

"Sanjay couldn't afford to surprise Anu as buying a car had to be a mutual decision. However, she has kept cards close to her chest. May be there is something good coming his way but Sanjay is totally unaware about it.

He would be thrilled with whatever surprise Anu has for her," said the friend, adding the couple are planning to celebrate the big day with close family and friends.
