"Beauty lies in being simple and natural and this is what I believe in. This is the real me. I believe in being natural and People's cover has given me this opportunity, " Kareena told reporters on the sidelines of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards.
This is Kareena's second time on the cover of People's magazine. In 2008 also she appeared on the magazine's cover but with heavy make-up that showed through her close-ups published in the magazine.
But she is happy with the nude look this time.
"When they came to me with the concept and said they wanted to do the 'India's most beautiful' issue, I was up for it. It is ironical that the international version of the same issue features Julia Roberts on the cover, " she said.
Kareena, who featured in a de-glam avatar in her debut film "Refugee" (2000), says the chance to go for a no make-up look in Bollywood depends completely upon roles.
"I think a lot of it depends on roles - if it demands you to be glamorous, you be so, " said the actress who avoided make-up for her roles in "Dev" and "Chameli".
The actress performed with beau Saif Ali Khan at the IIFA awards event Saturday night.
The duo will soon fly to Morocco to shoot for the second schedule of Saif's home production "Agent Vinod".
