Actor Adhyayan Suman has lent his support to NGO Helpage India's initiative to stop abuses against the elderly in the country.

In order to celebrate the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Tuesday, Adhyayan accompanied by his father, Shekhar Suman, stressed on the importance of inspiring young people to come forward and join this initiative.

Adhyayan created awareness about how the elderly need attention in a society which is going through a transition where people are opting for nuclear families and as a result, there is lesser security for the elderly.

"I am glad to be associated with this initiative and am happy that my son Adhyayan is sensitive to the needs of the older generation, " Shekhar said in a statement.
