Published this spring by Dial Press, the novel is based on Rachman's experience as a wire service reporter at the Associated Press bureau in Rome.
It centres around the quirky, maddening, endearing people who write and read an international newspaper based in Rome. It revolves around the likes of an obituary reporter who will do anything to avoid work, to a young freelancer who is manipulated by an egocentric war correspondent, to a dog-obsessed publisher who seems less interested in his struggling newspaper than in his magnificent basset hound.
R-ADAG unveiled the development/production financing deal Creative Partnership, with Plan B Entertainment at the Cannes Film Festival 2008. Last year, Plan B also announced a potential Pitt starrer "Dark Void" as a part of the agreement. A sci-fi action franchise, it is based on Capcom's acclaimed video game by the same name.
