The South Indian Film Federations had protested against the IIFA awards function, held in Colombo. They boycotted the awards function organized by the Sri Lankan Government which had mercilessly murdered thousands of innocent Tamilians.

The Tamil organizations also banned the actors and actresses who participated in the function. But a few actors like Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan paid no heed and went ahead with their participation.

Hrithik Roshan's Kites was ousted from the theatres in South India as a result.

Salman Khan is currently acting in a film which has Asin paired with him. The Sri Lankan Government has invited the producer to shoot this film in Sri Lanka. So the film which was to be shot in Mauritius was relocated to Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Government has extended all facilities for the shooting of this film because Salman Khan had participated in the IIFA.

But now there is a protest going on against Asin because of her pairing up with Salman. Lots of people are calling her up, on her cell phone, and requesting her not to act in this film.

The Salman Khan film Ready will not be screened in the five states of South either.

Asin, while speaking about this said, "I also got the invitation to participate in the IIFA. But respected the emotions and sentiments of the Tamil people and boycotted that function. But the producer here, has only signed me to act in the film Ready. I have given my call sheet to act in his film."
