Star Plus had announced their desire to make the epic in early 2008. We're half-way through 2010 with no trace of 'Mahabharat' yet. The channel had taken off the production reigns from Bobby Bedi and passed it on to Swastik Pictures, who had shot a pilot in Mumbai and Kolhapur some time back. However, things have come to a standstill again.
This pause has now given rise to insecurities and a sense of fear among the show's custodians. Invariably, the media hawks were quick to pounce on this predicament. After all, the world lives on speculation. Soon, the word spread that Aal Izz definitely not well here. There were murmurs that the channel wasn't happy with the pilot.
However, a reliable source allays such fears. "Mahabharat is well and truly on. There's just been another delay. Perhaps, the monsoons too, must have played a role in it. Swastik and Star Plus are now looking at beginning things in September/October. They are hopeful that the show will get going by then."
Unfortunately, for Swastik Pictures, they have to keep patience with their other upcoming show too – a daily for Colors, that is loosely inspired by the yesteryear film, Muqqadar Ka Sikander.
Well, that 'loosely' may not be a reality as there are talks of a change in storyline. (Now our stories on the filmy inspiration surely hasn't got anything to do with the change)
"The Colors show too has been delayed. Apparently, there are changes being made to the original plot. This show is also expected to take about few more months to materialize, " the source concluded.
Well, we're prepared to wait until then, as well.
