Vikramaditya Motwane's Udaan is about a tedious relation between a father and his son.
The character of Rohan (played by Rajat Barmecha) wants to grow up and become a writer. However, his dad (played by Ronit Roy) wants him to become an engineer.
The film deals with Rohan's rebellious nature and the conflict with his father over his chosen profession. Surprisingly, Rohan's life story is very close to Rajat's. He always wanted to become an actor but his dad was very strict and he was scared of telling his parents about his acting ambitions, so he lied to his father and came to Mumbai from Delhi.
After coming to the city, he pursued modelling as a career, as it is easier to get into the profession, a gateway to acting for many actors.
About the reel and real life similarities, director Vikram says, "Rajat wanted to be an actor, but wasn't sure if he should tell his parents outright. So he told them he was doing a jewellery designing course and came to Mumbai.
He actually wanted to be independent and get his first paycheque before telling them what he was doing. Once he got his first commercial, he told them what he wanted to do."
He is all praise for his lead actor, "There is something endearing about Rajat that captivated me. The moment I met him I knew I had found the right guy for the film."
