Aamir wants to announce the television premiere of 3 Idiots himself and promote it as well

Aamir Khan wants the television premiere of 3 Idiots to be as memorable as the film's release last year. The star wants to appear on the small screen himself to announce the telecast date to set a new trend in satellite screenings of movies.

Mr Perfectionist believes that even a small screen viewing, over six months after the movie's release, needs elaborate marketing. The promos stating that the movie is 'coming soon' have already begun but the date has yet to be ascertained.

Says a source, "Knowing the actor's penchant for marketing, the channel has put forth several ideas. But the actor is still weighing the options. He is has thinking of the various ways to promote the telecast. He is keen to make it distinct from being a mere screening like the other films."

The channel is keen that Aamir appear for the grand finale of Indian Idol, which is slated for August 15. They want him to use it as a platform to announce the telecast date of 3 Idiots. Moreover as his production Peepli Live releases on August 13, he could combine its promotion.

Apart from skipping awards ceremonies, the actor also does not make appearances on reality shows " he made an exception in the recent past for Salman Khan when he appeared on 10 Ka Dum with nephew Imran Khan. Adds the source, "It depends entirely on the star what he wants to do. The channel is keen as for them it will be major eyeball grabbing."
