Bollywood's offering during the Independence Day week -- "Kyun...Ho Gaya Na!" starring Amitabh
Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Vivek Oberoi and directed by Samir Karnik, has been run down by critics
for its flimsy storyline.
While high on presentation, the much-hyped film is a major let down, with most critics labelling it
puerile. Even Amitabh's role has not found too many takers.
This is a crucial film for producer Boney Kapoor, who has been reeling under a series of flops. The
industry bigwig had recently announced the plans to go corporate and float a public issue.
Aishwarya and Vivek's on-screen chemistry - or rather, the lack of it in the film - will be giving the
makers of "Fida", which pairs another hot-and-happening real life couple Kareena Kapoor and Shahid
Kapur, sleepless nights.
Ken Ghosh's "Fida" is slated for an August 20 release and also stars Fardeen Khan. It is Kareena's
first attempt at a negative role.
And, while we wait to see the grey side of the glamorous actress, we can enjoy an upgraded version of
the blockbuster "Sholay".
In its new avatar, the film has acquired a new four-track sound using software called 'Liquidgate' at a
reported cost of Rs 80,000 per print. It will be released in several theatres this week.
