Indian television's first soap opera 'Hum Log' which was aired in 1984 on Doordarshan is coming back again in the national channel in a brand new avatar.

The new avatar will be aired from August with a new title 'Hum'. The story of the serial deals with the daily struggles and aspirations of a middle class family. The audience still remembers the show for its adorable characters like Chutki, Basesar Ram, Nanhe, Dada and Dadiji, and Laloo among many others.

'Hum' will have a new storyline to cater to the present times and it will be aired with new actors.

In the original serial, veteran actor Ashok Kumar played the sutradhar and in the new version, actress Sushma Seth, who played dadi, will be sutradhar in new avatar.

The producers are prepared with 26 episodes and Doordarshan will air the show twice a week in the beginning. The first episode of the original 'Hum Log' was aired on July 7, 1984.
