We regret to inform the sad demise of actress Rituparna Sengupta's father Prabir Kumar Sengupta.

He passed away at 69 because of multiple organ failure; Late Mr. Sengupta had been suffering from kidney ailments since for a long time and left for heavenly abode on July 18th 2010.

It's a huge loss for the actress who is deeply grieving his demise. He has gone to a better place and we pray that his soul rest in peace.

Incidentally, it was Prabir Kumar who inspired Rituparna in her sojourn as a film actress. The acress was launched by Hema Malini way back in late 90's when she had made a telefilm Mohini for ZeeTV.

Rituparna started her career in Bollywood with that telefilm. "Hemaji actually called my dad and convinced him to get me into films. I still remember how she wanted my dad to travel with me to Mumbai for the shoot.

But he had problem with high altitude. So Hemaji made sure that he came by train and he was present at the shoot, " recollects Rituparna.
