The Kolkata leg of the Signature 7 Sensations Fashion Tour -- a 7-city fashion fest, with each having a different theme -- saw designers Malini Ramani and Manoviraj Khosla coming out with menswear and womenswear based on the 'Shock' theme.
"For this show, the outfits feature shocking colours full of fun, high heals and a vibrant attitude. The idea is to 'shock' people so it should have that boldness and the energy right, " said Ramani.
Moments before he walked the ramp, 'intelligent' actor Rahul Bose quipped, "I am definitely going to stop the show."
Later, admitting that he felt a bit out of place, he joked, "Yes, this is my very calculated attempt towards world domination. I want to do everything. Heart surgery is probably next, I think."
"No, seriously, I was a bit surprised when they asked me. I am this 5 feet 6 inches guy standing next to 7-feet tall supermodels; it does make you think twice, " Bose added with a smirk.
The collection, flaunted by the models at the show echoed bold cuts, chic designs, flamboyant colours and an edgy look and was well-received by city fashion connoisseurs.
Designer Manoviraj Khosla said, his collection mainly featured party wear both for day and evening appearances with a focus on being trendy and hip incorporating different printing techniques.
Khosla said, "It feels great to be here. I was born and brought up in Kolkata and it's always a pleasure to do a show here."
While Ramani and Khosla designed the outfits for the Kolkata gig, the tour also featured 12 other prominent Indian designers like Satya Paul, Rocky S and Narendra Kumar.
Ramani said, "I want to wear what I design so there's nothing fake and unwearable in the collection. It's got shocking elements but it's all wearable."
The designer said her collection, comprising of fine luxury resort wear, drew inspiration from celebration and travel with bright and juicy colours and it was a treat to see the suave Rahul Bose and the sensuous Celina Jaitely flaunt them.
Model Lakshmi Rana, who took the ramp with others on Thursday night, said, "I'm really sad that this is the last leg of the fest and it's going to get over."
Before coming to Kolkata, the tour, which began of July 5, also went to the cities of Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi -- each featuring a different theme like Impatience, Pride, Mischief, Jealousy, Anger and Ecstasy.
"It's a very egalitarian fashion event I must say; doesn't leave out the cities that don't get all that haute couture limelight. From the choice of designers to the themes, the fest played according to the different levels of fashion consciousness in each city, " informed Bose.
The actor, who is also apparently working on a movie script, when asked how he manages to do so many different things at the same time, said, "I guess, I am passionate about what I do, so I don't get tired of these things."
Celina Jaitley, who played showstopper alongside Bose, said, "Kolkata is where my heart is; it's my hometown. In fact, I used to work at this very same hotel as an hostess. And I also did my first fashion show for Manoviraj (Khosla). Life has come a full circle."
The 31-year-old model-turned-actress said, "People say a lot of things about those in the fashion world. For me it has been a great journey -- a way of finding who I really am."
