Aamir Khan made Khandala famous after his chart-busting Aati Kya Khandala in Ghulam. Now he does the same with Peepli with his latest film Peepli Live.
Aap ki badaulat
As a token of appreciation, villagers from over 500 different Peeplis in the country have sent the actor letters thanking him for making the name of their village famous.
There are over 1000 Peeplis all over India. The film is set in the Peepli of Bhadwai village of Madhya Pradesh, but it represents all the other Peeplis spread across the nation.
An insider says, "Aamir was surprised when he started getting postcards from different Peeplis thanking him for making the movie.
Even he wasn't aware that there were so many villages with the same name. The hand written letters have been pouring in, and some of people have invited Aamir to visit their village and meet them in person. "
Touched
The actor has asked his staff to keep all the letters safe in his archive. He's touched that the villagers made the effort to write to him personally. On receiving the letters Aamir says, "I was very touched with the post cards. I was surprised to see so many letters having one address."
