The most disappointing loss at the National Awards this year was Hrithik Roshan losing out on the best actor award for his performance in Koi...Mil Gaya. To Bollywood it was a foregone conclusion that Hrithik would win the award for his role as the mentally challenged boy in the sci-fi film.

Though all his friends were disappointed, Hrithik seemed to be in good spirits. "I guess it only proves that I need to work harder. And not getting the National Award is impetus to improve on Koi...Mil Gaya."

By the way, there were as many as eight south Indian jury members this year. Could that partly explain why both the best actor and best actress this year are from that part of the country?
