Apart from acting, the girl is also interested in literature, music, dancing, and photography. The girl is once again going to be part of a show named 'Hum' on Doordarshan, which is an inspirational show from 'Hum Log'. Mona shares views about different part of her life and her thoughts about marriage.
How is Mona in actual life?
Obviously, I am totally different from the character that I essay in the show. Whatever I do in the show is acting and nothing is real in it. In real life I am a real movie buff.
You will not trust me perhaps, but I don't like to have too many friends. I have a limited friend circle. I hate society and like to be alone. I love literature and often write passages, sometimes poetry. And I prefer to keep a low profile.
Mona, why did you take up acting as a profession?
Acting had come to me naturally. Long time back when I was in school, I started acting. While I was in college I took part in some acting activities and then after my graduation I got into theatres and street shows. And then I got my first break in television, after which I never looked back or thought about changing my profession.
Share some difficult moments from the journey of 'Iss Jungle...'
The whole journey was difficult as the basic concept of the show was to put the contestants through difficult tasks. Whoever passes all the hurdles wins the game. Even then, the most disgusting one was when I was asked to gulp a lizard which was really dirty.
And the other was when I was asked to stay under water. Frankly speaking, I hate water, actually I am afraid of water and thus that was the most horrible task for me. And the task which made all of us go crazy was to keep the fire alive for all time.
It was really a difficult task as there was no lighter and match box to light a fire. If the fire goes off, we won't get to drink clean water as there was no clean drinking water facility for us. Keeping fire alive was the most difficult task for all of us.
Tell us about your upcoming show 'Hum'?
It is often said that 'Hum' is a remake of 'Hum Log'. Let me make it clear that it is not a remake, it can be said to be inspired by the old one. 'Hum' is somewhere ahead of 'Hum Log'.
After 'Hum Log' the problems faced by the society has increased. According to the producer, the show will be covering those issues on a large scale. In 'Hum Log' there was only a family around which the storyline revolved.
But in 'Hum', there will be a whole village whose problems will be covered. 'Hum' is a bigger canvas as the tag line of the show also says 'Hum – A big story of a small village'.
What is your role in the show?
I am essaying a girl whose life is very much content. She is settled in America. She is highly qualified and has plans to study further and eventually, she enters the village and her point of view changes slowly. I will be essaying a very strong character but can't reveal much of it now.
Why so much of gap between 'Iss Jungle...' and 'Hum'?
I don't know, but I don't like to take up anything until I feel excited about it. I believe in quality work. I have taken this role because I felt clicked for it. And on top of that I am feeling honored that I am going to be a part of such a legendary show.
What have you learnt from the journey so far?
Just listen to your heart. Do the role for which you feel excited about and don't do anything just for the sake of doing it. I know ladies who have not yet crossed 30 are getting 40 plus roles.
I think one has to be very professional as that is the thing which helps in the long run. Be on time as that is what producers like and this compels both the producer and the channel to come back to you with more projects.
Do you think you are now settled in your life?
I don't believe in the word 'settle' as its definition may vary from person to person. Life has never been secured and it should not be as anything can happen anytime. And in this profession nothing is secured. A show which is doing very well today can go to garbage box tomorrow, so no such word like 'settle' for me.
What are your plans to get married?
(Laughs) I don't believe in indulging in such activity like marriage. I think marriage is big responsibility, which I cannot take up now. I don't think that I have a desire to get a partner.
I would prefer a companion rather than a husband. Presently, I have no plan to get married. But you never know how my mind may change and after few years, you will perhaps see me married, with 2 kids (Laughs).
