Art for a start
There are 26 works on display, that are largely oil on canvas paintings and a play of metal and wood with gold and silver gildings.
I'm someone who likes to ponder, and that's how I struck upon the core theme of my exhibition The end is essentially not the end. It's just the beginning.
I don't think anything stops or ends, it just metamorphoses into something else. For instance, I might see a crack somewhere, and a sapling rising from it. I find beauty in mundane objects.
Change over
The vibrant paintings have spiritual undertones as I have always been interested in human forms and faces and once again, they find a place in my work.
I have always been drawn to Buddha and that trend continues even in this exhibition. I concede that it's almost fashionable for artists to paint Buddha, but I don't think of the commercial angle when I'm painting. I guess Buddha stands for peace, and so we artists are can't resist immortalising him on canvas.
But otherwise, this show is different from my previous ones. In fact, when I look at some of my old paintings, I wonder whether they were actually done by me. All said and done, I am not the same person that I used to be. After all, nothing is constant and that's exactly what I'm rejoicing in, in this series.
