There was a long standing rumor of Bollywood actress Lara Dutta having a romantic involvement with tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi. Finally, the curtain has opened and the couple has officially declared their relationship by getting engaged in New York last week.

Up until now, both of them had denied having any relationship with each other. Earlier, Miss universe turned Bollywood actress Lara had a long live in relationship with Kelly Dorjee, a model turned actor. She has also reportedly dated another model turned Bollywood actor Dino Morea for a short period but that also did not work.

On the other hand, Mahesh Bhupathi was also not having a good time with his wife former model Shveta Jaishankar. The tennis star had reportedly met Lara at the time when his married life was going through a bad phase.

Lara happened to be a client of the celebrity management company owned by Mahesh. Later, his wife Shveta accused Lara and Bhupathi saying that they have cheated her because both of them were seen together much before Bhupathi divorced her.

Bhupathi and Lara were probably apprehensive to disclose their relationship before the Tennis star got the divorce from his wife. Now, when they have separated officially, the couple took the opportunity to declare their relationship in public. In fact, they made some public appearances together at several events and is looking for a home now.

The US Open and Davis cup have kept them busy in New York since August and they got engaged last week in New York. Lara also did a photo shoot for a magazine there so they exchanged the ring there.

Bhupathi confirmed the news on his twitter page posting that he has got engaged with Lara in New York and its official now.

Congratulations and best wishes to the couple!
