Aishwarya quitting Bollywood?

Fans of Aishwarya Rai can feel reassured. The beauty queen-turned-actress does not plan to quit Indian cinema for the sparkle of Hollywood just yet.

Rai, the star of Gurinder Chadda-directed 'Bride and Prejudice', said it may be her first English language movie but it is certainly not a crossover film.

"Nobody asked me if I was quitting Hindi films when I worked in the Tamil movie 'Iruvar'. Similarly, nobody questioned me when I worked in the Bengali film 'Chokher Bali'," she said while interacting with mediapersons at the music release of 'Bride and Prejudice' here last evening.

"I am only broadening my experience as an actor and making it more versatile. I'll classify it ('Bride') as my first English language film, not my crossover film," she added.

The film is slated to be released simultaneously in UK and India in its dubbed avatar 'Balle Balle! Amritsar to L.A.' on October eight.

Chadda, who won acclaim for the much-loved 'Bend it Like Beckham', said "'Bride' was made for the world, not for India alone. It's a platform for a whole new global audience to experience the wonder of Hindi film musicals. This is a mainstream movie, not a crossover film." Based on Jane Austen's literary classic 'Pride and Prejudice', Chadha's film places the novel as a love story in a cross-cultural setting that spans 21st century India.
