Viewers shift to `Bigg Boss 4` from CWG opener

Sunday evening was reserved for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games for many households who sat glued to their TV screens, but only till 9 p.m. it appears with reality show "Bigg Boss 4" with Salman Khan stealing away many eyeballs as soon as it launched.

The four-hour opening ceremony was telecast on Doordarshan starting 7 p.m., while the introductory episode of the fourth season of "Bigg Boss" went on air on Colors at 9 p.m.

From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the opening ceremony recorded a television rating point (TRP) of 3.76 percent. It peaked between 8 p.m.-8:15 p.m. at a rating of 4.27 percent, according to data provided by overnight television viewership tracker Audience Measurement and Analytics (aMap). However, it averaged only 2.8 percent through the evening.

The viewership of the opening gala dipped to 1.73 percent as soon as it was time for the unveiling of 14 contestants of "Bigg Boss" by host Salman Khan.

"Bigg Boss 4" was on air for three hours, recording an average TRP of 3.6 percent, 0.8 percent higher than the opening ceremony.
