There was a time when Bollywood actresses had to sing the movie songs themselves and there was nothing called
playback singers. Now, this old idea has probably smitten the new age directors, who want their heroines to croon the
songs themselves.
Recently, beauty queen turned actress Neha Dhupia was also asked by her director Subhash Kapoor to sing her song in
a new upcoming movie.
The director was quoted saying that Neha is playing a female gangster named 'Munni Madam' from Meerut and it is a very
strong character. The song speaks a little about her character. Initially, Kailash Kher was supposed to sing the whole
song but the director was adamant that Neha should croon the song herself, to add more authenticity to it.
However, Neha rejected the idea flatly saying that she is not a singer. But, later Subhash Kapoor convinced her and she
agreed to take a couple of music sittings. She was confident just after three music sittings and they went ahead to record
the song along with Kailash Kher. The song was finally recorded on last Saturday at a suburban studio.
Hopefully, Neha has now one more career option if her acting career dooms some day!
