Miss World 2010, which had been a spectacular affair, held in Sanya, in The Republic of China, has now been spotted with a controversial streak.

According to reports, there are eyebrows being raised on the selection of the Miss World 2010.

As announced, it was Miss US Alexandria Mills, who was crowned Miss World at the prestigious event. The freshly crowned Miss World was hardly beginning to let the feeling sink in, when there are questions erupting about the selection of the winner of the crown.

Reportedly, Miss Norway, Mariann Birkendal, the 23-year-old, who is a graduate from the University of Norway, has been a hot favorite with everyone, and she was being seen as the next one to step into the shoes of the Miss World 2010. However, strangely enough, she was not given a position even in the list of top five contestants in the competition.

Now, there are speculations from various sources, and it is being reported that there has been a deliberate swing of selection, which has been put forth by the Chinese authorities, due to political fallout with the Norwegian authorities.

Several reports suggesting that this competition has been a politics mixed with business kind of a venture, and since the two countries have in the recent past not being able to eye to eye on certain issues, it has resulted in the selection process of this events winner going haywire.

The main reason being cited for this fall out between India and Norway is that the Chinese authorities are not quite pleased with the Nobel Peace Prize Committee which has its headquarters in Oslo, as this year's Peace Prize had been awarded to the jailed Chinese dissident, Liu Xiaobo.

In the mean time, the selected Miss World is basking on the glory, as nothing official has been announced yet.
