Meet Punita Trikha, the New Delhi-based jewellery designer whom Bollywood legend Yash Chopra
has selected to make jewels for his next film and who has created accessories for Salman Khan's
Hollywood debut, "Marigold".
"Yash Chopra's new film, which doesn't yet have a name, begins in January. I'm doing the jewellery for
the film," tells Trikha, who has her flagship store in Delhi's Greater Kailash-I market.
"I've also already made about 150 pieces of crystal and glass bead jewellery for 'Marigold'," said Trikha.
"The shooting for 'Marigold' is happening in Jaipur and its one 45-day long schedule without any
breaks."
"The story of 'Marigold' is of an American tourist who falls in love with a Bollywood choreographer.
Salman plays the choreographer."
Trikha works alone and, without any helpers, creates each piece of jewellery - using mainly beads,
crystals and wires - by hand.
"I've made more than 1,000 pieces of jewellery and have never felt the need to use any helpers," said
Trikha who trained in Paris under Marie Louise.
Her Bollywood break came when Feroze Khan selected her to do the jewellery of "Janasheen" and now
she's doing his new film.
"I'll always be grateful to Feroze Khan for giving me an opportunity to get into the movies. He has also
asked me to do his new film, which is starting next year.
"But I'm not allowed to give any details."
