A storm of controversies hits Rani Mukherjee. Recently the actress was trapped in a controversial situation for her alleged relationship with her co-star Govinda and now the Kranti Shiv Sena drags her in another religious issue.
A local Hindu outfit has taken exception to actress Rani Mukherjee wearing a saffron robe in the under production film Babli Aur Banti, but the director dismissed their apprehensions saying there was no religious content in the movie to hurt the sentiments of any community.
A delegation of Kranti Shiv Sena led by its district unit President Varun Singh on Friday met the film's director Shad Ali and submitted a memorandum demanding disclosure of the script of the movie within 24 hours.
The outfit has asked the director to justify Rani wearing the saffron robe as part of the script failing which it would oppose the shooting of the movie.
However, the director said over phone that there was no religious activity in the feature film, which could invite the wrath of any political outfit and trigger social or communal tension.
The under-production film is simply a story of the aspirations of a young boy and girl of a village and how they realise their dreams of making it rich during their sojourn to the city, Ali said.
Referring to the threat by the outfit, he said that since the shooting of the film started in the district and adjoining areas, the story of the film has been reported in the media.
He said he explained to Singh that Mukherjee wearing the dress was mere coincidence. Kranti Shiv Sena and several other organisations had disrupted the shooting of Mira Nair's film Water three years ago.
Police said that security arrangements have been made at the film shooting site and punitive action would be taken against protesters.
