At 74, the veteran actor still feels young at heart and wants to participate in another talent hunt as he feels still someone might be searching for him! Dharmendra, who is a son of a school teacher in the village of Lalton, Ludhiana, got his Bollywood entry through Filmfare's talent hunt in Mumbai (then Bombay).
However, after spending five decades in the industry, Dharmendra feels that it has turned like a 'mandi' and actors have become like hawkers.
But he is not a mourning old man and feels blessed on his 75th birthday for doing a film like Yamla Pagla Deewana with his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol. The movie will release on January 14, 2011 and it is a perfect blend of comedy, action and romance.
After getting so much of accolades from the industry in these years, Dharmendra says that he came to Mumbai with a dream of getting seen in film posters. Like any normal human being, he also wanted to be loved and admired, possess a flat and a Fiat car.
But, the industry has given him much more what he expected and now he gets fan calls from the places as far as like Tunisia and Nigeria.
The jovial and glam boy Dharmedra will be back with his latest movie Yamla Pagla Deewana, which will reflect the wonderful chemistry between the father and the sons. Dharmedra says that in real life, there is awkwardness between him and his sons but he wonders how naturally Bobby calls him a 'kamina' in the film.
Well, we will discover the chemistry and bonding between the father-sons when the film releases next month. For now, we wish the veteran a very happy Birthday and hope he his film does well at the Box Office.
