His film "Shor" (Noise), shot in Mumbai and directed jointly by Krishna D.K. and Raj Nidimoru, is being screened at the ongoing Dubai International Film Festival and Sendhil says he fell in love with the din of the city while there.
"I actually had never been to Mumbai before. It was a fantastic experience and a great way to see the city as well as we shot all over Mumbai. This is an experience that I want to repeat. I want to come back to India to do another film, " Sendhil told in an interview.
"It was real hardship. It was really noisy. We had to re-do the takes. We were shooting in a kind of guerrilla style, with hand held camera, in the middle of the city. I won't say it was difficult; it was different from what I am used to, " he said.
"But it kind of made me love it more, which is why I kind of told my agents that I want more of this, actively sort it out. Lots of stuff has come through but nothing that I have latched on to as yet, " Sendhil said.
So what kind of movies is he looking at?
"I don't really want to do typical masala film. I enjoy watching them, I don't want to do it. The films that I really want to do are the more giddy drama type, " the Indian origin actor said.
Asked if he looked forward to work with any Bollywood star, he said: "I think Irrfan Khan. He is an absolute genius and I would want to work with him so, so badly. If I were to pick up one actor I would like to work with, it would be Irrfan Khan."
The 36-year-old says he loves visiting festivals as he gets to meet more filmmakers.
"I enjoy festivals because I get to meet other filmmakers. When I came, four directors met me. Where else does this happen except festivals. I think it's really important to come here to meet other directors...for them to see my work, " said Sendhil.
The actor said he starts shooting for an action tele-series soon.
"I am doing a new television series 'Covert Affairs'. It's about the CIA and I am playing a CIA agent. I would start shooting from March, " said Sendhil.
