Govinda will be celebrating his 48th birthday today (December 21) -- but in Kolkata.

The actor told us yesterday, "I will be working on my birthday. I am going there to perform for a show and later going to the Tarakeshwar temple to do a puja."

Govinda laughs and adds, "When people ask me why I am working on my birthday, I say it's best! If you work and earn money on your birthday, you will do it for the rest of the year.

What better way to celebrate than to earn money on your birthday?
