Ashutosh Gowariker is back at the Oscars to get his Lagaan or you can say his due.
The
critically acclaimed director has been chosen as a member of the directors branch by the Academy of
Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which means he can now use the Academy's library, film archives,
attend screenings and the Academy Awards night.
He will also be able to exercise his vote for
selecting the best of mainstream American films. DVDs of all the entries will be sent to Gowariker for his
consideration and vote, in about 20 categories.
Currently busy with the mixing of his film Swades,
Gowariker made it to the headlines when his 'Lagaan' was nominated for a best foreign film Oscar in
2002.
