Raveena Tandon has strongly denied a news report that she has been lax in her duties as Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) chairperson.

The allegations come at a time when the actress is in the family way.

"I took on the job because I love children and wanted to work for them in some capacity. Even though my doctor advised me against travelling, I still go to office regularly," tells Raveena. "I'm not taking a single penny, and then I'm subjected to these baseless charges! Right now, in my condition, I don't need this kind of stress."

One of the accusations is that she hasn't attended a single meeting of CFSI. But records at CFSI show that Raveena has attended every meeting.

"Please tell me which meeting I haven't attended. If they had a problem with me, why take it to the press? Why not come directly?"

Regarding the charge that she doesn't attend office every day, Raveena was given to understand right from the start that the CFSI's chairpersonship was an honorary post and that she wouldn't be required to attend office every day, as her predecessors Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi weren't required to do so either.

"The easiest thing to do for would be to resign. But I want the truth to come out. I can't be pinned with a bad name and be packed off."

Raveena's tenure cannot be terminated before her three-year term is over.

"I'm not worried about being sacked. But what bad timing, man! I haven't even taken any maternity leave. I'm working, looking at files, talking to new directors for films even in this condition when I'm supposed to take it completely easy. We're getting filmmakers to make films in spite of lack of funds."
