Karan Johar is one of the most popular directors that Bollywood has ever seen. But little did anyone expect that he would make
it to the Oscars, the most prestigious film awards in the world, one day.
Well, Karan Johar has not yet made it to
the platform but his latest release My Name Is Khan has been named as one of the films to be considered for the nominations
at the Academy Awards this year. For Karan Johar, this is an achievement in itself.
In a statement to the media, the
filmmaker says that he had made My Name Is Khan to make people aware of the subject being treated in the film, little did he
realize then that My Name Is Khan would be showered with so much love and fans all over the world.
My Name Is Khan is the highest grossing film from Bollywood in the United States. On the other hand, if the Karan Johar
production is able to secure an Academy Award, My Name Is Khan will also become the first film from the Hindi film industry to
breakthrough at the final levels of the Oscars.
The story of My Name Is Khan is set at the backdrop of the 9/11 attacks in the US, a subject that is also relevant in America,
therefore it is but natural that the film be liked by the American citizens.
Also to be kept in mind is the fact that the
Shah Rukh Khan starrer has been distributed in the US by Fox Star Studios, the name behind the Oscar winner Slumdog
Millionaire. So, will Shah Rukh Khan and buddy Karan Johar step on the Oscars platform? Keep the fingers crossed!
