Filmmaker Raj Kumar Santoshi has planned a surprise for producer Keshu Ramsay's son, Aryaman.
Santoshi, who directed "Khakee" for Ramsay earlier this year, plans to launch a new film titled "Family"
with Aryaman on Children's Day Nov 14, which also happens to be his son's birthday.
Jointly produced by Keshu Ramsay and AB Corp Ltd., "Family" will star Bollywood superstars Amitabh
Bachchan and Akshay Kumar.
Bachchan will play a gangster and Akshay Kumar a chef with his own catering van.
"Akshay was a chef in Bangkok before he became a star. So this role will be quite a homecoming for
him," laughed Santoshi.
Akshay agreed: "What I'm really looking forward to is playing a chef in 'Family'. I've played the crook so
many times. Now it's time for the cook."
Santoshi insists "Family" is not a launching pad for Aryaman. The story revolves around the families of
Bachchan and Akshay Kumar.
" 'Family' doesn't revolve around Aryaman. Amitji plays the main role. Aryaman fitted well into the plot,
that's all," said Santoshi.
The screenplay is co-written by Santoshi and Sridhar Raghvan, who also wrote "Khakee". Santoshi
believes the gangster's role will be "one of the most challenging roles" Bachchan has ever played.
The filmmaker added: "It has more shades to it than what he did in 'Khakee', in terms of the dynamics of
the drama."
Meanwhile, Santoshi is working on a script with Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgan. "She (Aishwarya) did me
a favour by doing 'Khakee'. So I've to do something important for her," he said.
Does this mean his other Amitabh Bachchan project "Ranveer" is off? "Not at all," Santoshi replies with
certainty. "We're working on the script. It will be made, but not now."
