The Fashion actress decided to drastically change her hairstyle and she did it all by herself. She sat in front of the mirror and chopped her mane from the front herself.
"It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. But it was also something I wanted to do during my younger days but didn't. As there was no film shooting continuity problems, I could let myself go."
However she ended up looking a mess.
"I have poker straight hair so I thought cutting it across was the easy way out. But I realised it was not that easy."
She sought help from B-Town hairstylist Kanta for the damage control.
"I first stepped out in my new look for my New Year's eve show.
People thought I had a wig on or had used extensions but it is my real hair!" says Mugdha who will next be seen in Aaditya Datt's comic caper Will You Marry Me?
She adds, "My mom tells me that with all the hair from the fringe going in your eyes, you will end up with a squint. Others tell me that it looks like the hair of a sheep.
While for still others it makes me look younger. But I am okay with all the comments. This is something I always wanted!"
While she may be reaping the fringe benefits, Mugdha, however, can't brush it back when not needed. "Then it looks like a plume on a peacock's head!" she guffaws.
