Imagine not switching on your television for a day and missing your daily dose of soaps and reality shows? The "No TV Day" initiative in Mumbai by a leading newspaper even caught the attention of the film fraternity.

All the television sets were shut down so that the people spend more time with their families and explore the beauty of the city.

Bollywood actors took it to microblogging site twitter.com to applaud the campaign and show their keen interest in it.

"I think Hindustan Times's initiative 'No TV Day' is excellent. It is the best exercise for brains. Follow it once in week and feel rich, " Anupam Kher posted on his Twitter account.

Ritesh Deshmukh posted: "It's a No TV Day - not sure what I am gonna do, but let's see how the day unfolds - it's kind of Independence Day."

Sonakshi Sinha felt that it was like most other days for her and wondered if there will be a no newspaper day.

Onir wrote: "I grew up in Bhutan. I saw TV for the first time when I came to India for college. May be because of that I never got addicted to TV, " he added.

"I still prefer my newspaper over a cup of tea in the morning to TV. Don't want to be inundated by loud sound first thing in the morning, " he added.
