Like dashing actor Karan V. Grover who enacts the role of Karan in Zee TV's Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, the situation got a little tricky when the storyline demanded him to do a double role –that of karan and his twin brother Ranchod.
Karan was shown to become a quadriplegic following an accident and at the same time, the actor was playing the character of his estranged twin brother Ranchod Tiwary, a junior artist and can best be described as atapori.
Karan said, "Hrithik Roshan's role in Guzaarish has inspired me a lot and I keep watching some or the other scene during breaks. It is extremely difficult for an actor to play the role of a quadriplegic so I keep taking references from the movie.
"The movie could not have been released at a better time. My heart went out to those whose lives are confined in a wheelchair when I saw interviews of the actual Ethan Mascarenhas. I saw life in a different light. Playing a double role has been one of the most challenging assignments till date."
He added, "I have always been a patient actor but this situation where I am playing a double role has changed my personality. From 9 AM to 3 PM on the sets, I am Karan and from 3 PM onwards, I am Ranchod. Both of them have diametrically opposite characteristics, looks and personalities. One is on a wheelchair wearing a wad of bandage on his head sporting a thick beard whereas the other one is clean shaven and has a colourful persona.
"The director has a different set of expectations from each of the characters and being applauded for the two different performances that I execute in the same day gives me immense satisfaction as an actor."
"I get restless sitting on a wheelchair for even half an hour and wonder how those differently abled spend their entire life on one chair. I wish I could do something for them. My guzaarish is to reach out to these fighters and make a difference in their lives!" he said.
Point noted Karan. May your noble Guzaarish be fulfilled soon.
