Actor Priyanka Chopra got a reprieve in a cheating case on Tuesday as Justice Ajay Khanvilkar of the Bombay High Court stayed the proceedings initiated against her at the Andheri metropolitan court by her former secretary, Prakash Jaju.

On October 18, Jaju had filed a case of cheating against Priyanka in the Andheri Metropolitan court, for not paying him his legitimate dues.

According to him: "Priyanka owed him Rs 1.75 crore, while her parents offered him Rs 15 lakh. I am ready to withdraw all cases against her if she says ‘Sorry' to me publicly, for removing me from my contract in an unceremonious fashion. It could've been done in a more decent manner."

However Chopra's lawyer Satish Manishinde, who had consulted a handwriting expert, claimed that two pages of the agreement had been forged.

The court, after hearing the parties, observed that prima facie no case was made out against Chopra and stayed the proceedings in the lower court.
