The 35th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) closed here Thursday with a special screening of the
Hollywood blockbuster "Alexander".
The by-invite-only screening was organised on the lawns of a luxury hotel of the Taj group.
More shows were organised along the Miramar beach, just outside the city.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar sat through the initial part of the screening of "Sood"
(Revenge), one of the two Konkani films being shown here.
Organisers also screened short films made by youngsters below 24. The budding filmmakers were given just
a day to make the movies, which could be 24-second to 24-minute long.
Parrikar said hosting IFFI had helped clean up parts of Panaji and provided an impetus to Konkani
films.
But some, including pop star Remo Fernandes, have criticised the event and lamented the amount of money
spent on it.
