Activists of right-wing student organisation Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday attacked anchors of a popular
reality show Roadies, alleging derogatory language and humiliation of women on screen.
At a promotional rally for the show on Friday, about 15 activists of the ABVP, including five women, stormed on the star anchors
Raghu, Rajiv and Rannvijay and painted their faces black.
"We will not tolerate derogatory language and humiliation of women in TV shows. If such language and shows continue, then the
artists will have to face opposition from us across the country, " said an ABVP statement.
The anchors of the of the show, known for their rough and tough persona on screen, seemed nonchalant over the incident and
said they were not about to file a police complaint, choosing to take the attack as "regular in the life of public figures".
The ABVP, which has its roots in the Hindu volunteer organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, have earlier been behind
several such "cultural censorship" vendettas and it is unlikely that any action will be taken against them.
