Shot with novel angles, the trailer gives audiences a taste of the first of its kind film on teenage angst and the rebellious attitudes of youth in metropolises.
Bejoy Nambiar, the film's director, said the idea was to translate the edginess of the script into the trailer of the film, which is coming out June 10.
"Today's youth is aggressive, sexual, violent, edgier and aware of everything happening around. They like to explore the darker side and push the envelope till they can be brought in check by authorities. The film is basically about how well you deal with the shaitaan (demon) within you," said Nambiar in a statement.
Produced by Kashyap and co-produced by Tipping Point Films, the youth film arm of Viacom 18, "Shaitan" stars Rajeev Khandelwal, Kalki Koechlin, Neil Bhoopalam (LSD fame), Shiv Pandit, Kirti Kulhari and Gulshan Devaiah.
"'Shaitan' is like a David Flincher film set in Mumbai made by an Indian filmmaker. It completely blows you away," said Kashyap in a statement.
