Imad who is also a rock musician, has been performing live at various venues in different cities. For Imaad and his rock-band's concert in Kathmandu on Friday evening, people were pleasantly surprised to see Naseeruddin Shah turn up all the way in Kathmandu to lend moral support for his son.
According to members of Imaad's crew no one was aware that Naseeruddin Shah would show up since Imaad himself is not in favour of letting his father's towering reputation take over the youngster's concerts. And neither does Naseer like to come into his children's range of activity.
Says a source, "But this time Naseer was adamant. He knows his presence makes his son selfconscious.
So he decided to slip in quietly and sat through the entire evening watching Imaad son with parental pride. The concert at the open-air restaurant 1905 in the Kanthipath area of Kathmandu was for a very restricted audience.
The concert got delayed because of inclement weather. But Naseer sat patiently in an unobstrusive corner quietly the entire evening. When Imad and his band finally started performing at 9 pm Naseer's face was glowing with happiness. "
Significantly Naseer did not allow the limelight to be shifted away from his son. Says the source, "When local people who were excited to see such an awesome actor in Nepal, approached him to greet him Naseer's annoyance was visible. They soon let him be. The evening clearly belonged to Naseer's son and there was no way the stalwart actor would allow the attention to be deflected. "
Confirming the proud father's presence on Friday in support of Imad at the rock concert in Kathmandu the director of 404 Prawaal Raman said, "Yes Naseer Saab came to watch Imaad perform in Kathmandu. It was a big moment for all of us. Because we all know he never promotes his own films. "
Naseer who is just back from Kathmandu confirms, "Yes I attended Imad's concert in Kathmandu. I made sure it remained his evening. So when people at the concert began to approach me—very sweetly, I might add—I had to turn down their requests for attention. It was my son's evening. I was just a spectator who happened to be a proud father. "
