Displaying a rare sensibleness for some so young, Mahaakshay says, "People in the entertainment industry are not kind to failure. When my debut bombed they made me the punching bag. I became the star-son who proves lineage sucks. "
Recalling the period of turbulence uncertainty and humiliation the star-son opens up the for the first time.
"It has been a hellish three years for me. Every weakness in my acting was turned into a tamasha. I was a dead-man walking. People who could never hit out at my father decided to get even with him by hitting out at me.
They couldn't touch my father, he's too big to be taken on. So they did their best to crush me. I became their favourite punching-bag. People in the industry ridiculed me in my face. One eminent person from the industry even said I was not fit to be a junior artiste. "
You ask who, and Mahaakshay is evasive. "I've made a list of all those people who have insulted and humiliated me. At the moment I'm too small an actor to get even. But soon enough I'll name these people who have hurt me and my family. "
The young actor whose debut in Jimmy was mocked and ridiculed can't get over the long period of forced hibernation. "I can't begin to describe what my parents have gone through.
More than my own failure it was my parents' concern worry and agony that was killing me. I lived in guilt and fear for three years. Guilt, because my parents were suffering because of me. And fear, because I thought I may never emerge from the dark tunnel. "
Ironically while this star-son was put in his place, Mahaakshay watched other kids from the film industry race past him. "I would see all these other star-sons bag the best roles and date the hottest girls in the industry. And I'd wonder when my turn would come. "
It was at this time that Vikram Bhatt came forward with the offer for Haunted. Mahaaskshay put his whole and soul into the project. He spent his entire time working on the role, getting the 3D effects in place with the director.
"I cannot begin to say how much Vikram Sir has done for me. Just to see that smile on my father and mother's face is a gift for which I will remain indebted to Vikram Sir. My father kept saying, ‘It's a huge curse to me my son'. Every time he said this I died. "
The other person Mahaakshay is grateful to is Suniel Shetty. "In those trying times he signed me for Loot. We shot in Bangkok. He would be with at the gym. Even after working out he'd be hanging out at the gym just to see I worked out. Now I do mixed martial-arts three times a week. That's enough to keep me fit. "
For Mother's Day Mahaakshay had a special gift for his mother. "I wrote a letter telling her how much she means to me. Her world revolves around her children. She prayed for my success. I survived those three years of isolation because of my parents. "
