"I have heard that the journalist was shot dead, and such news is not good. To attack a journalist or attacking any person is not good, " Amitabh told reporters while he was here to promote his issue-based movie "Aarakshan".
"We have heard that the journalist has been shot dead because he wanted to bring forth issues that few people didn't like. It's like people watch any of our performances and if they don't like it, they kill us. So we oppose this, and we are against this, " he added.
Dey, who killed Saturday by four unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants, was Mid-Day's special investigations editor.
Amitabh, 68, was shocked at the incident, and says people must fight against violence.
"Violence and crime happens everywhere...I don't think it happens less or more in any city. But wherever it happens...we should try and stop it."
