However, neither the actress nor the businessman was present in the high court's family division Wednesday morning to hear a judge grant a decree nisi in a hearing which lasted just 92 seconds.
In Britain's divorce law, a decree nisi is granted when a court is satisfied that the petitioner is entitled to a divorce.
The judge ruled that the four-year marriage could be dissolved because the marriage had broken down due to Nayar's "unreasonable behaviour".
According to court papers, the judge "held that the respondent has behaved in such a way that the petitioner cannot be reasonably expected to live with the respondent", reports contactmusic.com,
The couple, who married in March 2007, agreed to share the costs of the divorce.
Hurley has previously announced that she had split from Arun after pictures emerged of her kissing cricketer Shane Warne.
